Cultivating Revelation:  Opening to Prophecy through Jewish Text and Creative Expression

with Rabbi Diane Tiferet and Reb Patrice

The Jewish tradition considers the ‘wilderness’ (midbar) to be a particularly fruitful place for meaningful connections with the Divine.  In a way, we are experiencing a sort of wilderness of the unknown on our planet right now.

There is nothing like being stripped of all we know, and entering the wide and scary expansive spaces of the ‘unknown,’ to prepare us to receive Torah (teaching for our lives) anew, to listen deeply for Guidance about how we might give meaning and shape to our days. We firmly believe that it is possible for each and every one of us to open ourselves up to hearing our soul’s calling.

In this class, we will engage in textual study of male and female prophets, see how their stories relate to our own, and engage in a variety of creative exercises (writing and/or art-making) to open our hearts to hearing higher wisdom.

*This class is open to everyone, regardless of faith or previous knowledge.  No Hebrew is required. Texts will be provided both in Hebrew and in English translations.
